Who is Marilyn Monroe ?

Everyone knows her but we don't have a clear idea about her life, maybe because many of us specially me born after her sudden death. So let's see who is Marylin Monroe ?

Her name is Norma Jeane Mortenson, She was born on June 1, 1926, in Los Angeles, California. She never knew her father, and her mother suffered from a severe physcological problems that made her unable to raise her daughter .


Growing up, Norma spent much of her life in foster care and in an orphanage. She wanted to escape from the dufficulties that faced her in the foster care so she get married with her boyfriend Jimmy Dougherty in1942 who was a merchant marine. Dougherty was sent to the south Pacific with the military and by that time, Norma started to work in a Munition factory until she has been discovered by a photographer


After being a successful model Norma dreamed to become a famous actress, she divorced from her husband when he return back in 1946 because she became more busy with her career and their life together was to the end . in the same year of her divorce she signed her first movie and by this she created a new look and a new name for herself, she dyed her hair with blond color and called herself "Marilyn Monroe"


Her small part in John Huston's crime drama The Asphalt Jungle (1950) garnered her a lot of attention. after this movie she attended many auditions and her career started to be more bright .

After a series of successful movies her last 2 movies Let's Make Love (1960) and The Misfits (1961) appeared to be disappointed in the box office. and in the same time her personal life became worst.She had a string of unsuccessful marriages and relationships.

At the age of 36 years old, She was dropped from the unfinished movie "Something's Got to Give"(1962) due to chronic lateness and drug dependency, her absenteeism caused delay after delay in production, resulting in her being fired from the production in June of that year.

It seemed to be the end of her career. She was eventually re-hired, but died on August 5, 1962, in LA at her home and they found an empty bottle of sleeping pills by her bed. There has been some speculation over the years that she may have been murdered by mafia because she knew information that can destroy important persons due to her wide relationships, but it was officially ruled as a drug overdose.


On June 1, 1995, Marilyn was featured on a 32¢ US commemorative postage stamp.

The reddish Indian powder

I was watching an Indian movie , I am not in to Bollywood stuff so much plus I don't know much about the Indian culture, but it happened that I watched that movie..





The movie was talking about 2 girls and a guy, they used to be a good friends in their childhood, the guy was in love with one of the girls but he moved to London with his family and he asked the girl that he loved to send emails for him, she didn't pay attention to him but the other girl did ! the film is nice for more information u can visit Here to know more about it..


There was a wedding in this movie and the groom was putting a redish powder material on the head of his pride, I saw this a lot in indan movies and I didn't know why they do that ?! well, I read about it and am gonna tell u the story :)

The reddish material called "Sindoor" , they applied it on the parting line of woman's hair and they called it " mang" or as a dot on the front of her head. Single women do not apply "mang" but they put the dot in different colors.

Well, this tradition came from "Hinduism", it is something related with the religion and the culture in India.
So now , why red ? Red is the color of power and sindoor is the female energy of "sati" and "parvati", what does all that mean ? "sati" is the typical Hindu wife that protect her husband's honor, and "parvati"is a God that will give the long life for woman who put this sindoor on her hair.
"Sindoor" basically made of trumeric, alum or lime and some herbals which are not poisonous..

Angelina Jolie wearing scarf in Pakistan

I really like the picture of Angelina Jolie when she visited Pakistan to help the victims there as a goodwill ambassador, well, she is not Muslim even not Christian, she didn't identify herself in any region , but when she went there she didn't care about the religion or the race or anything else, she went there by the name of humanity to help those poor people.
Honestly, I didn't like her before because of her personal life and how she took Brad Bit from his wife after, but I still respect her other side, because I believe that each one of us has a bad and a good side, she is a human and she have them too .. =)

Another thing, I like how she wore the scarf respecting the Islamic country that she visited, this can show us how it is nice to respect others in their lands and how to accept them as themselves ..

Women and tough jobs !

Yesterday, I was invited to a public talking competition, the woman was one of the important topics that they discussed. They talked about Kuwaiti women and if they are capable to work in fields as a fire fighter or a cop.
Before few days , I read in the paper that some women cops faced some problems with public specially guys, while they were doing their job in the some malls. I think there are some problems with the society to accept this new idea. it is not because women are unable to be in this position, it is only because the society still didn't accept this new thing. In my opinion, it just needs time.
In the old days, before even the discovery of oil in Kuwait. It was really hard for any woman to be an employee or to have a a job, but by time ,people became more open, and as you see now most of the women have a jobs with high education levels .
If we take US as an example, you can notice that before 20 years maybe it was a joke to say that a woman will be a candidate for the president position. But now, the things changed because the American society realized that woman can do it and she is qualified enough to get that position as much as the man..
For me, I believe that if the woman want something, she can do it no matter what the difficulties are. Not because she is a woman she can't do it, and because he is a man he can. It only depends on individuals, and nothing to do with the sex.
From all what I said before , you can understand that it is again a matter of time and I am sure that the Kuwaiti society will be pleased to deal with a policewoman one day..
